I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering a few years ago, but never practiced the profession. After finishing school, I decided to go back to my real love – collecting toy robots. It was ok, and I was getting by with buying and selling rare figures. I always thought that I’d never be involved in any creative endeavors, until I tried my hand at toy customizing.

I was reluctant to go ahead and sell my toys online at first, but the repaints I did sold quite well. I was browsing through a few websites offering custom toys for ideas, until I realized that I could probably produce custom toy parts to make older toys look fresh and new. I first sculpted a head for a very popular figure, and showed it to like-minded friends on the forums. I was surprised about the demand – people from South Valley, Peralta, Los Lunas, Edgewood, Corrales, North Valley, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, and North Valley were sending deposits to my online account to get at least a couple of pieces of my creation. I was thrilled, but at the same time, overwhelmed by the response. I did not have the time or equipment to produce the custom head.

I looked for ways to get an influx of cash for capital. I got to the site for Albuquerque Car Title Loans, where I finished the application and got my auto title loan approved in under five minutes. I got the cash that day, and set out to buy some materials to make casts and molds, some styrene, and I even hired a couple of people to work for me temporarily. We made the toy heads, sold them off, and had the customers clamoring for more.
